Live-Stream of the Funeral HERE. Kim Childs Thacker, age 69, of Altamont, left this frail existence peacefully with loved ones by his side on May 29, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born August 1, 1954, in Murray, Utah, the third son of Kenn and Lois Childs Thacker. He married Suzanne “Sue” Best on June 21, 1974, in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Kim was a hard worker and had been a truck driver in the oil field and a cement work subcontractor in construction for most of his life. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and playing in the dirt with his children and grandchildren. His grandchildren were the best part of his world, next to his wife.
He was very active in The Church serving two missions, one for the Altamont Stake and one in Las Vegas, Nevada. He had various callings including ordinance worker in the Vernal Temple; president and counselor in the Young Men’s presidency; and nursery leader for eight years (a calling he simply adored).
He was a prankster to the core, but also served others. Recently, he worked at the Duchesne County Correctional Facility where, because of his non-judgmental attitude, he became friends with and helped many of the inmates.
Kim is survived by his sweetheart, Sue, his children, Kasey (Tammy) Thacker; Matt “Maggie Boy” Thacker; Heidi (Daniel) Perkins, Aaron (Truly) Thacker, Laci (Greg) Miles, Amanda (Kris) Orton, Emily (Ammon) Dunsmore, 28 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Clyde & Jimmy; sister-in-law, Melanie Thacker; and one grand-baby boy, Fallon Miles.
A special heart-felt, THANK YOU!, to Tanesha & Lance from Canyon Hospice Service for their loving care and compassion.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Altamont Stake Center. There will be a viewing at the church on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m.
Burial will be in the Altamont Cemetery.
