Kevin Safley

Kevin Safley, age 64 of Ballard, Utah, passed away July 25, 2026 due to complications following surgery.

Born April 3,1962 in Price, Utah, to Leon and Patsy Cook Safley, Kevin lived a life defined by creativity and quiet service to those around him. He had a remarkable gift for making people feel cared for, whether through a home-cooked meal, a thoughtful project, or simply sharing his time and talents. His greatest joy came from bringing happiness to his family and creating memories together.

Kevin was a creator in every sense of the word. He built treehouses where his children could play, a gazebo where family movie nights became tradition, and even a special music room where he could pursue his passion of singing. Whatever he created, it was always with someone else in mind. His generosity, imagination, and willingness to give of himself left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He expressed his love by making sure anyone who came into his home had plenty of soda to drink and good food to eat.

Kevin met the love of his life, Beverly Mortensen, on a blind date. They were married February 6, 1993, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 33 years and built a life centered on family and commitment to one another. After marriage, they resided in Teton, Idaho, where Kevin was a manager at Nelson Ricks Creamery. They then moved back to Bluebell, Utah, to be closer to family, allowing Kevin to care for his mother while also helping care for Beverly's parents. They later moved to Ballard, Utah– where they raised their three children and created a home filled with unconditional love. In 2004, Kevin became a nurse and found great fulfillment in caring for others, especially the patients he served through home health and hospice care. He retired early in 2012 due to ongoing problems with his feet and back.

Above all else, Kevin was a devoted husband, father, and caregiver. He found fulfillment in taking care of the people he loved, always making sure everyone around him was fed, supported, and encouraged. His love was not expressed through grand gestures, but through countless, consistent everyday acts of caring for the needs of his family. His constant care will carry with them through the difficult times ahead.

Kevin is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Safley; his children, Jaron (Rachel) Safley, Kalab (Sage) Safley, and Ajia (Benjamin) Mouritsen; his four cherished grandchildren, Ephraim, Lynlee, Lorna and Hyrum whom he wished could have been a bigger part of his life; and two grandsons who will be born later this year. He is also survived by his three sisters, Myra Jones (Lance Ballard), Jody Batty, Amy (Derek) Nelson along with many other extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his love and kindness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Rich Safley and Patsy Ruth Safley, as well as his nephew, Caden Nelson.

Kevin will be remembered for his generous heart, good food, and beautiful voice. The things he built will stand as reminders of his talent, but the love he gave will remain his greatest legacy.

In accordance with his wishes, Kevin will be laid to rest, surrounded by the love of his close family and friends. While his absence leaves a lasting ache, his legacy of kindness will live on in all who were blessed to know him.
