Karen Batchelor

    Karen Elizabeth Batchelor, age 63, years, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024 at her home, in Duchesne, Utah.
    Born on August 10, 1961, to Eugene “Ole” and Irene Getchell, in Mohall, North Dakota, and the 6th child out of nine, Karen was cherished for her boundless empathy and infectious sense of humor. She touched the lives of many through her nurturing spirit and her ability to bring joy to those around her.
    A caregiver at heart, Karen dutifully raised her 3 children, Jay, Amy, and Kallie. Karen's compassion extended to her role as a provider for her son Jay, providing him with constant support and care throughout his life, ensuring his needs were always met with tenderness and understanding. She was known for demonstrating unwavering love and devotion. Karen was known for giving unconditionally to those around her.
    She was also a mother hen to her own mother, brother, sisters, nieces and nephews.Karen notoriously checked in with family regularly across cities and states, even when life was busy, she wouldn’t hesitate to check in. She was never too busy to chat and loved when people would stop by for a visit. She had a sharp memory and enjoyed taking anyone on a stroll down memory lane to reminisce of the things that made her smile. Her compassion has been passed down generationally to her children and grandchildren.
    Karen is survived by a son and daughter,, Allen “Jay” Young and Amy (Bryan) LaFollette, both of Duchesne; granddaughters, Dacey (Ricardo) Aguirre and Makele LaFollette of Clearfield, Utah; and grandson, Kyson LaFollette of Duchesne; sisters, Sheryl, Dale, Alaina, Tammy, Annette and Sheila, as well as countless nieces and nephews.
    She is preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Kallie, her parents, Eugene and Irene, and her brothers, Perry and Allen.
    She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
    Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., to celebrate Karen's life and honor her memory at Duchesne City Cemetery.
    Karen's legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
