Julia Dorthey Reed, age 85, of Roosevelt, passed away February 4, 2026, at the Uintah Basin Sr. Villa.
She was born March 22, 1940, in Bluebell, to Stanley Christopher and Violet Elizabeth Bird Bristol. She married Charles LeRoy “Bud” Reed on March 14, 1970. He died in 1985.
Julia worked for fourteen years as a head housekeeper for the Frontier Motel. She also owned and operated an upholstery business. She took great pride in her skills as an upholsterer, being able to do the diamond tuck which is a classic decorative technique where fabric is folded and secured with buttons in a staggered, diamond-shaped pattern. It creates a deep, cushioned texture that is synonymous with luxury and "old-school" craftsmanship. She was a talented drawing artist, enjoyed bowling, being in a league for several years, and crocheted everything from blankets to stuffed animals. The Bible was an important part of her life and she recently finished reading it from cover to cover.
Her family was her everything and she loved them fiercely. She was there for them no matter what and her parting words were always, “Be Safe! And I Love You!”
Julia is survived by her daughters, Tanny Huber, of Pennsylvania; Charlie (Lewis) Selfe, Roosevelt; grandchildren, Natasha (Jason) Whitman, Cortney Huber, Chandra Adams (Hoss Minchey), Haley Angel, Braeden (Kenzie) Farnsworth, Jayden (Colby) Berlin, Mekenzie Hampshire, Boston Mitchell; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Louis (Susan) Bristol, Vernal; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; a daughter, Carol Ann Adams; a son-in-law, Mike Huber; brothers, Dean, Alden, Dale, Gene, Larry, & Bruce Bristol; sisters, Louise Blanchard, Virginia Lister, and Betty Long.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary where a viewing will be that morning from 10-10:45 a.m.
