PLEASE NOTE: This obituary is being placed on our website as a courtesy to the family.  The Hullinger Mortuary is not handling any part of these services.

Joye Williams Brown returned home to her father in heaven on November 22, 2023 after a short but valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.

Joye was born August 30, 1942 in Vernal, Utah to Howard and Florence Williams. Her childhood days were spent with family in Measer, Utah. She graduated first from Uintah High School and later from Brigham Young University.

Joye married her eternal sweetheart, Jim Brown, in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1970. Together they had four daughters, twelve grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

Joye and Jim spent their early married years in Nine Mile Canyon where they began to raise their family. Later they moved to Roosevelt, where she followed in her mother's footsteps and continued teaching. Joye taught elementary school for 36 years before retiring.

Joye was a friend to all. She was loved dearly because of her kindness. Joye made friends and connections everywhere she went. She loved all her friends and enjoyed get-togethers, bunco nights, neighborhood activities, and service. She volunteered her time to committees, including the Board of Kings Peak Credit Union. Joye found the most enjoyment came from spending time with her family. She cherished the time spent camping, traveling, cruising, family dinners, and many, many card games.

Joye had a strong faith in her Savior Jesus Christ and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many callings for her faith. Amongst her favorite callings were being an ordinance worker in the Vernal Temple and a member missionary in the Whiterocks branch.

Joye and Jim shared a love for gardening and could often be found elbow-deep in dirt. They frequently shared their produce with family, friends, and neighbors. Together, Jim and Joye loved to get a Diet Coke to share and drive to the mountains, often going “Just another five miles.”

We know that when Joye reviews her life with her Savior, her favorite titles will be; Wife, Mother, Grandma, Daughter, Aunt, Friend, Neighbor, and Teacher.

Joye is survived by her husband Jim, daughters Judiann (Troy), Jelaine (Jeff), Jeanine (J.D.), and Jaimie, her twelve grandchildren, many great-children, and brother Ken (DeAnn). She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jane, and her son-in-law Erik.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 12 noon at the Rockpoint LDS Chapel (2575 North 1500 West) with viewings held Friday, December 1st from 6-8 PM at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary, and Saturday 1 hr prior to service at the chapel.
