Josefina Yolanda Cala Garcia, age 31, of Salt Lake City, formerly of Ft. Duchesne, passed away September 30, 2025, at her home.
She was born November 26, 1993, in Roosevelt, Utah, to Cesar Garcia, Sr. and Akosita Kaufusi. She currently had a companion, Anthony Finau.
Josefina enjoyed her work as a forklift operator at a warehouse in Salt Lake City. She was very much into making herself up and trying out different hairstyles. She liked to write poetry and was a shop-aholic! Her favorite pastime was playing volleyball. She loved her family and being with them – especially those in the Uintah Basin. Her children were the love of her life.
Josefina is survived by her companion, Anthony, of Salt Lake City; daughters, Khloee Garcia, Ft. Duchesne; Laylah Alicia Romero, Salt Lake City; father, Cesar Garcia, Mexico; grandparents, Kelo & Vaeiki Kaufusi, Roosevelt; Yolanda Garcia, Salt Lake City; brothers, Cesar Garcia, Jr., Salt Lake City; Drue Kelo Ashby, Moab; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Akosita; grandmother, Eleanor Kaufusi, and aunt, Diane Garrison.
Graveside services will be held Monday, October 6, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Roosevelt Memorial Park. There will be a wake on Sunday after 3:00 p.m. at Christella Trujillo’s home (2500 N 5750 E [Whiterocks Road]) in Ft. Duchesne.
