Jonathon Dalton Pittman, age 22, of Roosevelt, Utah, was called back to his Heavenly home on September 10, 2024, into the loving arms of his Savior. His body sustained fatal injuries from a motorcycle accident. Jonathon valiantly returned with honor from serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the California Riverside Mission (2021-2023), where he left a piece of his heart, and a short 10 months later was called again on another mission. Jonathon spent two years teaching others about the love that the Savior has for them but he spent his lifetime helping people feel loved by him and the Savior.
Jonathon had a way of helping others feel included and important. He would always make time for you even if he was running late. He didn’t want to leave you until he knew that you would be okay in his absence. He was always smiling! Jonathon saw the best in people and never left without genuinely asking if there was anything that he could do for you.
Jonathon had a very creative side and knew there was nothing that he couldn’t create, repair, invent, or make better with some cardboard and duck tape. Not all of his creative ventures were a success…one of them is lying on the floor of a lake from a failed maiden voyage of a cardboard one man boat, but that never stopped him. And honestly most ventures were successful...like his fully automated folding Captain America shield, his working replica of the Golden Plates and his Transformer tank that he whipped up after school in time to sit on the porch and “transform” for all the trick or treaters. If he drew your name for Christmas you knew you were going to receive an amazing, one of a kind, thoughtful gift that he worked on and planned for weeks to make it just right.
He was also hilarious! When a new pack of toilet paper was purchased the “T.P. Ninja” would strike placing ALL of the new rolls of toilet paper in an intricate design, pressure fit…right over the toilet. And although he loved speaking with an English accent, which apparently he perfected on his mission, he was not from England…but again…if Jonny had an interest then he learned the skill (very convincingly apparently) and amazed all those around him. His variety of interests and unending desire to create led him to blacksmithing and again Jonathon found something he excelled at. He amazed all the “old timers” that had been doing it for years with his strength, steadiness and creativity. He shared his talents by designing and forging one of a kind treasures that he gifted to those he loved dearly.
Jonathon loved the outdoors, camping, creating, serving and loving those around him. He was truly the hands of his Savior here on Earth and never let an opportunity go by to tell you that he loved you…and you felt it! Jonathon treasured the time he got to spend with the kids at Centennial Elementary and his church Primary class. He was such a genuine, kind, loving, thoughtful man of God and he left a gaping hole in our hearts, but we have the assurance that families are eternal and we trust in the Plan of Salvation (a.k.a. Plan of Happiness) that we will always be a family and one day be reunited with our sweet boy as he tells us of all his adventures on the other side.
Gratefully Jonathon had the opportunity to find the girl of his dreams who he planned to make his forever sweetheart, however, the Lord’s timing required him to leave before this could take place. And we know that Jonathon would never question the Lord’s timing. He was given the opportunity in this mortal life to love and be loved by someone so purely and fiercely and for that we are eternally grateful. Unfortunately we were asked to give our sweet boy back earlier than we had ever planned but we know he is happy and oh so busy doing what he loved to do…teach others about Christ.
Jonathon is survived by his adoring parents, Layne and Rebecca Pittman; his siblings/best friends, Michael (Jessica) Pittman, Madison (Matthew) Penalba, Jaxon Pittman, Hannah Pittman; The girl of his dreams, Megan, Grandpa T.K. Wilson, Grandma Sharon Hullinger, Grandpa Emmitt and Grandma Sheryl Pittman; and a multitude of aunts, uncles and cousins that he adored.
He was preceded in death by his Mother Sheila, Grandma Wilson, Grandpa Bob and Grammy Sherry Bitter and fearless cousin Paul Lincoln Olmstead.
We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and support from people around the world that were touched by Jonathon’s love, example and service and we are grateful for the prayers and faith that have literally been holding us up during this difficult time.
