Jo'el Christensen

    Jo’el Wenoona Christensen, age 51, of Salt Lake City, passed away August 17, 2025, in St. Mark’s Hospital.
    She was born July 17, 1974, in Roosevelt, to Annette Parriette.  She married Adam Shavanaux and they later divorced.
    Jo’el was a free spirit and went wherever the wind took her.  She was always lively and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind.  She enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, camping and sitting by the fire were some her favorite.  She had a positive outlook on things, which made her very forgiving and loving, because of out going personality.  She was fun to be around and was always making new friends.  She was always willing to try new things and believed life was about the adventures not the destinations.  
    She is survived by her son, Nathaniel Parriette, of Ft. Duchesne; a grandson, Poco Shavanaux; a brother, Anthony Reed; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
    She was preceded in death by her son, Alexander Shavanaux; her brother, Chalmers Reed; and her mother, Annette.
    Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ft. Duchesne Community Building.  There will be a wake on Friday at the community building after 4:00 p.m.
    Burial will be in the Ft. Duchesne Cemetery.
