Jocita Poowegup

    Jocita Marie Poowegup, age 30, of Vernal, passed away May 16, 2025, in the University of Utah Hospital.
    She was born August 12, 1994, in Roosevelt, to Richard Dean Poowegup, Jr. and Anita Ann Honwynewa.  She married Tyson Antonio in 2013.  He died April 11, 2015.
    Jocita was outgoing, liked to be active, and was pretty much on her own since she was a teenager.  She loved her children and being with them was her greatest joy.  She would often stay in a local hotel just so her children could swim in the pool.  She enjoyed listening to music, cruising around, shopping online, and especially holidays and family dinners.  She had many friends and a very big family.  She took good care of her brother, Casper.  
    Jocita is survived by her children, Tayla Antonio, Harmony Taveapont, Olijah Poowegup; father, Richard Poowegup; grandparents, Richard & Joline Poowegup, Ft.  Duchesne; great-grandmother, Ina Jane Nephi, Ft. Duchesne; siblings, Casper Poowegup; Knotasha Poowegup; Raenisa Ridley; Darcy Ridley; Austin Ridley; aunts and uncles, Quanah Poowegup, Carlo Poowegup, Rosella Honwynewa, Reajeana Honwynewa, Wilfred, Byron, Douglas, Doyle, Francine, Pete, Fredella, and Amaryllis Conetah; great-aunts, Dellana Mart, Bettina Redfoot, Tissy Cuch, RoseAnne Myore; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Tyson, sister, Patricia Ridley; her mother, Anita Honwynewa; grandparents, Mary Ann Gardner, Ray John Honwynewa; great-grandparents, Rozella Conetah, Fred Conetah; uncles, Ray Jon & Fred Honwynewa, Jonas & Eli Poowegup, Brad & John Conetah; and sister, Madison Lang.
    Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church in Whiterocks.  There will be a wake on Tuesday after 4:00 p.m. at the home of Richard Poowegup (#1808, Little Chicago Road D).
    Burial will be in the Red Knoll Cemetery.
