Jesse Shields

Jesse Daniel Shields, age 25, of Roosevelt, was killed February 20, 2015, in an automobile accident.
He was born June 27, 1989, in Heber City, to Daniel and Teresa Slagle Shields. He grew up farming with his dad, brother, and grandpa on their big ranch.  He spent many hours chasing cows on four-wheelers as they would move them from the mountains to the desert and back again.  He graduated from Union High School in 2007.
Jesse worked as a truck driver in the oil field and was also a long haul driver.  He was a talented artist who liked to draw.  Some of his art even showed up as tattoos on himself and others.  He enjoyed pheasant hunting with his brother and father in his younger days, and sometimes fancied himself as a semi-pro race car driver.  His telephone was never far from his hand.  He always tried to help others, often doing it at his own sacrifice.
Jesse had some personal struggles that he had finally overcome and was just getting back on his feet.  A couple of persons that helped him through the tough times were Greg Nickels and Henry McKenna.  He also has other special persons in his life including Jamie, Lacey, Kyle, Patrick and Brandon.
He really loved his family and teasing his nieces was one of the highlights of his life.
Jesse is survived by his parents, Danny & Teresa Shields, Roosevelt; brother, Joseph (Kortnie) Shields, sister, Andi Adele Shields, both of Roosevelt; grandfather, Joseph (Carol) Shields, Pleasant Valley; an uncle, Howard Slagle, nieces, Danyelle & Josie Shields; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Adele Lamb Shields; Virginia Slagle Addley; Walter Slagle; Dar Addley, and good friend, Casey Beath.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Helen’s Catholic Church.  Being part Cherokee, the family wishes to follow the Native American tradition of having wake at his parents, Danny and Teresa’s, home located at 554 North Mason Circle, in Roosevelt.  It will be held after 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park under direction of the Hullinger Mortuary.
