Jaykub Peterson

Jaykub Fran Peterson, age 24, of Ballard, died August 11, 2026, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

He was born August 8, 2002, in Roosevelt, to Marv and Elizabeth Perry Peterson.

Jaykub worked for JN Trucking as a Hydrovac operator in the oil field. He was a dedicated and reliable worker, always willing to get dirty to get the job done. Known for his strong-headed approach and stubborn resolve, once Jaykub made up his mind, he saw things through.

He was a hardworker and had a keen sense of observation. Jaykub learned things the hard way but never lost his sense of fun in the process.

Jaykub was known for his love of fast vehicles and wheels — riding motorcycles, speeding on four-wheelers, and embracing the thrill of the open road. Fishing, hunting, camping, gathering with friends at the lake, and building campfires were among his favorite pastimes. If there was a campfire going, it was likely Jaykub who had built it—he always wanted a fire wherever he went. He enjoyed spending time with his close-knit group of friends, whether they were heading to the lake or simply hanging out together. Some of his favorite places were Cottonwood Reservoir and Windy Park, where he spent several summers serving on the camp staff at the High Uintah Boy Scout Camp. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout at just 14 years old and was proud to be a member of the Order of the Arrow. Some of his favorite times were the simplest ones—just hanging out, laughing, and spending time with his brothers. He had a great love of animals.

Jaykub was quiet, observant, and never wanted any attention on himself. He will always be remembered as the lifesaver, the best friend, the beloved “Mr. Jake” and “favorite second child.”

Jaykub is survived by his parents, Marv & Elizabeth Peterson, Tridell; his girlfriend, Ashlyn Emmons, Ballard; siblings, Samuel Peterson, Provo; Braxton Peterson; a bonus sibling, Gage (Tylynn) Call, both of Tridell; grandmother, Peggy Perry, Tridell; friends, Francene & Richard Deegan, Tia Schmidt; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fran D & Gladys Peterson, Richard Perry; uncles, Ralph Perry, James Perry, Tim Webster; and an aunt, Shandy Horrocks Perry.

Per his wishes he was cremated.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Tridell Community Center from 1:00-5:00 p.m.
