Jay Accuttoroop

Jay Linn Accuttoroop, age 53, of Ouray, Utah, passed away on March 20, 2026, at the Uintah Basin Medical Center.

Jay was born September 28, 1972 in Woodville, Texas, to Duane Kelly Accuttoroop and Gloria Anne Langley Accuttoroop.

Jay moved to the Uintah Basin from Texas in 2008. When he decided to leave the Kushata reservation in Livingston, Texas, he moved to Ft. Duchesne but Ouray was the place he called Home Sweet Home. He was proud to call this place home.

Jay worked at The Ute Plaza as the custodian. He liked to get to work early before anyone else so that he could work in peace and quiet and get all of his tasks done in a timely manner.

Jay was a big time fan of the San Francisco 49ers. He loved going to the mountains to go fishing with his family and friends.

We could always count on him to be the BBQ cook. He enjoyed cooking on the grill. He always wanted to open a cooking stand. Jay likes his 80'sand 90's Rock and Roll music, drinking a few cold ones and getting some good laughs in. Jay was always ready to have a good time, He had a couple of setbacks but he didn’t let that stop him from doing what he wanted in life.

He did not forget to visit his brothers, sisters, mom or his Bro’s in Texas.

He loved his nieces and nephews. He had a few good close friends he could count on for rides to and from town, and we appreciate you. Thank you for supporting our nephew, brother, & uncle by being a good friend. He also had the support of the Ute Indian Tribe with transportation driving all the way to Ouray to get him for his shopping and medical needs.

He is survived by his sisters, Deana Accuttoroop, LeAnn Accuttoroop, Little brother Nathan Lewis, uncles and aunts, Myron (Sylene) Accuttoroop, Christine (Daryl) Santio, Wesley Accuttoroop, and Helen Wash and Armond Accuttoroop.

He was preceded in death by his parents Duane and Gloria Accuttoroop along with numerous relatives.

The family would like to give a big "Thank You” to Rita at the Randlett Merc for all of the many years she helped Jay.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Hullinger Mortuary.

Following services he will be cremated.
