Janet Wilson Alberts, age 76, of Roosevelt, passed away at her home on January 31, 2026.
She was born on February 1, 1949, in Gainesville, Georgia, to William and Virginia Patterson Wilson.
Janet married, Lars Alberts, on April 21, 1990, in Kingman, Arizona.
Janet had a lifelong passion for animals of all kinds. Over the years, she cared for dogs, cats, birds, chickens, horses, and even a llama, and she especially enjoyed watching the wildlife that visited her yard. She worked as a groomer and was employed at the Roosevelt animal shelter, where her compassion for animals was evident to all.
Throughout her life, Janet held various managerial positions, including work at Alco, Payless Shoes, and A&D Oilfield Services. She was creative and talented, enjoying hobbies such as sewing, cooking, embroidery, and candle making. Many of her handmade items were sold at craft fairs, which she greatly enjoyed. One of Janet’s favorite monthly rituals was getting her hair done, an activity she looked forward to and took great pride in.
Janet was very strong in her Catholic Faith. She served in many positions at St Helen's Catholic Church.
Janet will be remembered for her love of animals, her creativity, and the warmth she shared with those who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Lars, of Roosevelt; a son, Jon (Tina) Bargar, Murrayville, Georgia; daughter Jennifer (Josh) Shelton; grandchildren, Jacob Bargar, Dylan Shelton (who she helped raise), Sarah Chambers; and a sister, Sally Martin, of Alabama; as well as her dogs, “Tinkerbell,” “Teddy,” “Norman,” "Ruger," and three special needs cats, “Niki,” “Jazzy,” and “Mouse.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; her favorite dog, “Bon Bon,” and her potbelly pig, “Pig.”
Per her wishes she will be cremated and her cremated remains will be interred to Georgia where she was born and raised.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Roosevelt.
The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many dear friends who came to support Janet and Lars during the last few weeks of her life while Janet was on hospice. Your kindness, care, and presence brought comfort and meant more than words can express.
In lieu of flowers, Janet’s family and friends respectfully request that donations be made to a local animal shelter "Save our local pets Utah" in her memory. https://www.saveourlocalpetsutah.org
