Ivy Rae MountainLion, age 37, of Ft. Duchesne, passed away December 12, 2023, in a childhood home where a lot of her family remember growing up.
She was born September 16, 1986, in Roosevelt, to Clara Perank and Arthur MountainLion, Jr. She had four older siblings and one younger sister and they all grew up together.
Ivy loved motorcycles and hoped to own one one day. She was always wearing purple nail polish and wanted to teach her children her Tribe’s traditions. At the Pow Wows, she used to dance jingle dress when she was younger, and taught some of her children to dance like she did. Ivy did not know her father personally, but still respected him and loved him. Every season or holiday she and her daughter would go out and clean his grave and visit other loved ones’ graves where they are at rest.
She loved to go to community dances and celebrations such as Bear Dance, Pow Wows, and Sundance. She would take her mother to see the Sundances in Colorado and Wyoming, and pray for good medicine. She would also go out to Wendover to take
her mom gambling.
Ivy loved going to family gatherings, especially Thanksgiving, where she could visit and catch up on all of the latest happenings.
Ivy is survived by her children, Annabel Harlan, Roy, Utah; Serenna McCormik;; Dreven MountanLion, both of Nevada; and Peyton; siblings, Jenny Perank, Toni MountainLion, Kyle Perank, Jasmine Jim; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Andrew MountainLion.
She was cremated and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary. The cremated remains will be buried at the Myton Cemetery.
