Listen to Obituary

Isola Beth Morrill Haslem, age 94, of Roosevelt, formerly of Tridell, passed away April 2, 2026.

She was born November 28, 1931, in Tridell, Utah, to Horace LeRoy and Clara Elizabeth Bartlett Morrill.

Being the eighth of eleven children, Isola learned the value of hard work at home and on the farm. She carried those values into her own large family. She lived the motto “Use it up, wear it out; make it do, or do without.”

At Alterra High School, Isola played the saxophone in the band and also the piano. She was academically inclined and earned a scholarship to Utah State University.

She married Ray Haslem on January 19, 1951, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together, they enjoyed more than 67 years and created a loving, gospel-centered home for their 11 children.

Isola’s life was centered around serving her family and her Savior. She would bake ten loaves of bread weekly and worked from sunrise to sunset, cooking, cleaning, canning, gardening, organizing and keeping everybody happy. Isola was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Through the years, she served in many leadership and teaching callings in Primary, the Young Women Organization, and Relief Society. She also served in the Cub Scouts. She still has scouts who remember the impact she had on them. She volunteered considerable time at the Family History Library and served as an ordinance worker in the Vernal Temple for many years.

Isola will be remembered for serving, thinking the best of others, and being content with her blessings, even through her many trials of aging.

She is survived by her children: Beth Goodrich, North Salt Lake; daughter-in-law, Kathy Haslem, Bridgeland; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Haslem, Peebles, Ohio; Jean (Ron) Ruiz, Spanish Fork; Wade (Chris) Haslem, Santaquin; Clair (Dana) Haslem, Vernal; Don (Debbie) Haslem, Logan; Doris (Phillip) Bertoch, Roosevelt; Arlene (Brian) Southam, Roosevelt; Sharla (David) Wilcox, Twin Falls, Idaho; 46 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren (with three more on the way); sister LouAnn (Norman) Angus, Roosevelt; brother Callis (Lynette) Morrill, Independence, Missouri; brother-in-law, Bill Haslem, St. George; sisters-in-law, Illa Morrill, Manhattan, Kansas and Lois Morrill, Ogden.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her two sons, Keith and Doyle Haslem; daughter, Julie Haslem; and son-in-law, James Goodrich.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 12 Noon, at the Ballard Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2561 East Hwy 40. The viewing will be held at that location from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Burial will be at the Tridell Cemetery.
