Irene Caldwell Cooper, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on February 21, 1947, in San Diego, California, to Clive and Ina Caldwell. Growing up in San Diego, Irene cherished her friendships and days spent at the beach, building memories that stayed with her throughout her life.
Irene married her forever friend and love of her life Nelden Eugene Cooper, and together they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage. Their journey began with their marriage in the Los Angeles LDS Temple July 29,1966, thereafter moving to Norfolk Virginia to begin their family. Following her experience as a military wife and mother, she and Nelden moved to Leota, Utah, where they continued growing the family, before settling in Roosevelt in 1984. Irene and Nelden were blessed with seven children, and over the years their family grew to include 33 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren—a legacy that filled Irene’s heart with joy and pride.
Irene discovered her true calling in working with children. For over 41 years, she devoted her time and love to running a daycare, where she became a second mother and grandmother to countless children and their parents. Her kindness, patience, and nurturing spirit touched more lives than can ever be measured. To Irene, each child she cared for was special, and through her work, she left a lasting mark on her community.
Irene’s legacy lives on in her family, the many children she cared for, and in everyone who had the privilege to know and love her. Her life was one of love, service, and devotion, and she will be deeply missed.
Irene is survived by her devoted husband, Nelden; her brother and sister-in-law, David & Linda Caldwell; her seven children and their spouses: Janelle & Adam Gehring, 9 children & 9 grandchildren, Wesley & Diane Cooper, 4 children & 2 grandchildren, Micheal & Lynsey Cooper, 6 children, Audrey & David Hollis, 5 children, Delilah & Brett Neilsen, 3 children, Rachel & Marquis Richardson, 3 children, Leah & Sidney Eschler, 3 children & 2 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Clive and Ina Caldwell, and her sister Dianne Caldwell.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Central Park Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Viewings will be held on Thursday evening at the Hullinger Mortuary from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and Friday at the church from 10:30 - 11:45 AM.
