Helen W. Cardwell, lovingly known as “Donna,” passed away March 25, 2026 at the age of 95, surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, devotion, and a life well lived.
Donna was born on February 7, 1931, to William Roy and Mearl Wennerstrom. She met her eternal companion at the Hotel Utah, and on May 29, 1953, she married Harold E. Cardwell in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they shared more than 50 wonderful years of marriage and created a loving home in Midvale, Utah, where they raised their family of four children. He died December 11, 2003.
Donna worked at Lynn Wilson’s Burritos prior to her retirement. She was known for her kind heart and appreciation for life’s simple joys. She loved crocheting and took special delight in collecting porcelain dolls, little treasures that reflected her gentle and creative spirit.
Donna will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her quiet strength, and the warmth she brought to all who knew and loved her. Her legacy lives on through her children, her ten grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she found great happiness in each of them.
Donna is survived by her children, Ted Cardwell of Roosevelt; Cynthia (Matt Loewenstein) Wardle of Roosevelt; Jana (Aaron) Robinson of Gunnison; sister, Deanna (Joseph) Anderson of South Jordan; and brother-in-law Mardell Jensen of Centerfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Cardwell; her daughter, Sherida Graves; sons-in-law, Jason Graves, Michael R. Wardle; siblings, Harold L. Wennerstrom, Lucille Jaynes (Reese Westover), William R. Wennerstrom (Gay), Jack Wennerstrom (Jewel), Joyce Neuenschwander, Jean Sadler (Elmer), Bert D. Wennerstrom, Ardeth Wennerstrom, Bonne Lou Dunn (Glen), and Karen Jensen.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Larkin Sunset Gardens (1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah).
