Heath Ladell UncaSam, age 52, of Ft. Duchesne, passed away October 27, 2021, at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City.
He was born September 17, 1969, in Roosevelt, to Janet UncaSam and was raised by his grandmother, Bonnie V UncaSam McKinley. He married Lisa Montes on December 12, 2002, in Ft. Duchesne.
Heath had worked for the Ute Indian Tribe Recreation Department for many years. In his younger days, he really enjoyed riding his four-wheelers and dirt bikes, and more recently riding his Harley Davidsons. His other hobbies and interests included hunting, fishing, being in the mountains, and “shining up” his motorcycle and trucks. He always helped when needed and like to spend time with his family when he could. He loved to laugh and eat, especially his wife’s cooking! He would often head to Wendover for some gambling or to the mountains to take his kids hunting. He was very important in the lives of his family and will be deeply missed.
Heath is survived by his wife, Lisa, of Vernal; children, Davidann UncaSam, Heath UncaSam, Jr.; Derrick Grant UncaSam, London Montes, Eemailie Sireech, Cashlyn Naseyoma, all of Vernal; grandchildren, Elizabeth Sumner, Andre Cornpeach, Aubrey UncaSam, Azure R. Lee; sisters, Jessica UncaSam, Dorothea Garcia, Janice UncaSam; aunts, Bernadene UncaSam, Caroline UncaSam, Denise UncaSam, Jennifer UncaSam.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet; brothers, Wilford UncaSam, Blaine UncaSam; grandparents, Mary P. & Don C. UncaSam; Doris Ridley, Marjorie UncaSam, and Bonnie UncaSam, and Calvin and MarySue UncaSam
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ft. Duchesne Cemetery. There will be a wake at the Ft. Duchesne Community Building after 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
