Glenda J. Arrowchis

Glenda Jane Gardner Arrowchis was born on June 6, 1935, to John Delmar Gardner and Alta LaVina Gardner. She passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, one day before her 91st birthday.

Throughout her life, Glenda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, teacher, mentor, and friend. Her strength, wisdom, compassion, and unwavering faith touched the lives of countless people and created a legacy that will endure for generations.

In 1954, Glenda married the love of her life, Franklin “Frank” Arrowchis. Together they built a life founded upon faith, family, hard work, love, and service to others. Their marriage was a partnership of deep devotion and mutual respect that spanned more than seven decades. Side by side, they raised seven children: Johnny Arrowchis, LaRee Spann (Ed), Kendell Arrowchis (Jennifer), Lara Ivie (Roland), LeeAnna Silverman (Steve), Mary Wyasket (Elston), and Marcy Starr (Eric).

Their family grew to include numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom was blessed by Glenda’s love, guidance, encouragement, and example. Nothing brought her greater joy than watching her family grow and supporting them through every stage of life.

Glenda's life was deeply rooted in both faith and culture. She held a profound respect for her Native traditions and the sacred teachings that were passed down through generations. She believed strongly in honoring her heritage and taught her family the importance of respect, humility, service, perseverance, and love. She carried these values throughout her life and shared them with everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She was equally devoted to her faith and spent many years serving in numerous leadership and service positions within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Whether through a calling, a conversation, a visit, or a simple act of kindness, Glenda sought opportunities to lift others and strengthen those around her. Her willingness to serve and her ability to offer comfort and encouragement blessed many lives.

A woman of remarkable talent and determination, Glenda embraced life with enthusiasm and adventure. She loved working cattle, horseback riding, hunting, fishing in Alaska, sewing, crocheting, and riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles alongside Frank.

She also took great pride in cultivating a large garden each year, spending countless hours planting, tending, harvesting, and sharing its abundance with family, friends, and neighbors. She was never afraid of hard work and approached every challenge with courage, resilience, and a strong sense of purpose.

Glenda’s influence extended far beyond her own family. She opened her heart and home to countless children and young people throughout her life, becoming a trusted mentor, teacher, and mother figure to many. She served as a Boy Scout leader and faithfully accepted numerous leadership roles in her church and community. Her kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Family was always at the center of Glenda’s life. She and Frank traveled countless miles to support their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in every activity, milestone, and accomplishment. Whether attending a sporting event, school program, church activity, or family gathering, she made each person feel loved, valued, and important. Her family knew her as a source of strength, wisdom, comfort, and unconditional love.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, John Delmar Gardner and Alta LaVina Gardner; father and mother in law, Bishop and Dorothy Arrowchis; brothers in law, Lloyd and Mike Arrowchis; sisters in law, Joyce Delores, and Jean; her stepmother, Edith Gardner; her sister, Marion Jones; her brother-in-law, Gary Smith, Kee Zahne, Jimmy Larose, Jonathan Cuch; and her nephews, Danny Smith, Mikey Arrowchis, JR Arrowchis, Justin Arrowchis, Duke Arrowchis, Ted Manning, Lance Manning; Decker Manning, Tyrell Sowsonicut; and a nieces, Marla Tallbird.. Buffy Arrowchis, and Chalisa Arrowchis; and other family members.

Though her family mourns her passing, they find comfort in knowing that her legacy lives on through the generations she nurtured, the traditions she preserved, and the countless lives she touched. She was a woman of faith, cultural pride, perseverance, compassion, and enduring love.

Her example will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Ballard Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Viewings will be held at the same location on Sunday evening from 5 :00 - 7:00 PM and Monday from 9:30 - 10:45 AM.

Burial will be in the Ft. Duchesne Cemetery.
