Sheldon Glen Horrocks, age 92, of Duchesne, Utah, passed away on June 14, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born September 22, 1932, in Ogden, Utah, to Sheldon George and Helen Marie Archibald Horrocks. He married Aleen Phillips on September 10, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She died July 30, 2013.
Dad was a loving, supporting, and patient patriarch of his family. His greatest joy was having his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren around. He spent his life teaching, coaching, and mentoring many students throughout the Carbon and Duchesne School Districts. His career path took him to the District level, serving in the position of Assistant Superintendent and later as Interim Superintendent .
Dad was a true patriot. He loved this country and the freedoms he fought for. He served four years active duty in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, earning the Combat Infantry Badge. He earned several more honors during his 30 year military career.
Dad was a faithful spiritual leader serving in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and along with his wife, served an 18-month mission in the California, San Bernadino area.
His hobbies included oil painting, building remote control airplanes, Ham Radio, golfing, and fishing.
Dad is survived by his children, Jim (Koreen) Horrocks, Price Utah; Tawnya (Tim) Burt, Duchesne; Tammy (Scott) Hatch, Vernal, Utah; a remaining sister, Audrey Marcellin, Duchesne; 16 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife and three children, Sheldon Glen Horrocks, Jr., Dixie Aleen Horrocks, Joel Scott Horrocks; parents; and three siblings, Yuleta Horrocks Gines, James Roger Horrocks, and Terry Horrocks.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Duchesne Stake Center. Viewings will be held at the church on Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and Friday from 10:00 - 10:45 AM.
Burial will be in the Heber City Cemetery with military honors presented by the Duchesne American Legion, Utah National Guard and the Patriot Guard Riders.
