George Allen Gurr

George Allen Gurr, age 65, of Roosevelt, passed away March 12, 2017, at the Uintah Basin Medical Center from a ruptured aortic aneurysm.  
    He was born April 23, 1951, in Vernal, to Earl G and Bula Gillman Gurr.  He married D. Jane Meacham, on May 4, 1984, in Roosevelt.
    George was a hardworker and always provided for his family.  He worked in the oilfield most of his life, retiring from Devon Energy a couple of years ago.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and just being in the outdoors.  He was a good cook. 
    He was very straightforward so you knew where you stood with him, and you didn’t want to get on his bad side – he could hold a grudge!  
    He loved his family and was the “#1 Supporter” of his grandchildren at their sports and other activities.
    George is survived by his wife, Jane; children, Roy (Peg) Gurr, Adam (Andrea) Gurr, Mike (Katrina) Gurr, all of Roosevelt; grandchildren, JD, Dillon, Jordan, Kobe, Katelyn, Kelby, Ethan, & Klairissa; brothers and sister, Marlene (Dalvis) Kendall, Rangely, CO; Gene (Janet) Gurr, Reed H Gurr, both of Vernal, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and adopted family & friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Ellen Gurr & Linda Stuart.
    Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017, at 11:00  a.m., at the Roosevelt West LDS Stake Center, 150 South Skyline Drive.   There will be a viewing on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary and from 10-10:45 a.m. Friday at the church.
    Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
