George Albert Coop, age 71, of Roosevelt, Utah, passed away June 13, 2025, at his home.
He was born March 9, 1954, in North Bend , Oregon, to Jack Duane and Hazel Ellen Young Coop. He grew up in Oregon and Washington. He married Rose Black and they had a daughter, Lynette. They later divorced. He married Wendy Ann Marsing Evans on June 15, 2013, in Roosevelt.
George was a well known mechanic from the 1970s until his retirement in 1998 due to some health issues. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, talking about his cars, trucks, and, of course, his tractor – which was as old as he was. He loved spending time with his grandkids as well as his mother-in-law. He suffered a brain bleed in 2022, which compromised his memory and vision to the point that he could no longer drive. This was a major frustration and he often argued about how he should still be able to drive. Through it all, he kept his great sense of humor, his sarcastic wit, and his love for family.
George is survived by his wife, Wendy; daughter, Lynnette (Roy) Tibbets, Vernal, Utah; step-children, Bryant (Cheryl) Sowsonicut, Ballard, Utah; Christopher (Carie) Evans, Max L (Lilliana) Evans, Jr., Jon Evans, all of West Jordan, Utah; 20 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Violet Jordan, Nelson Coop, Jacqueline Eyre, Julie Miner; and numerous nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Loreen Kemp, Patricia Ann Coop; infant grandsons, Jeremiah Jacob Coop & Xavier George Albert Tibbets; and his ex-wife, Rose Black.
Per his wishes, he was cremated and there will be a memorial service at a later date.
