Gena Verlynn Carda

Gena Verlynn Carda, age 53, of Duchesne, UT, passed away on March 28, 2023.
    She was born on July 16, 1969, at the Uintah Basin Medical Center in Roosevelt,  to Jim and Marianne Defa. She was married to Rick Carda for 34 yrs. They shared two sons, Samuel and Eric Carda. Gena was employed by the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office as a booking clerk before passing. 
    Gena loved her trips to California and especially loved spending time with her family walking along the beach. She enjoyed looking for sand dollars and sea shells (even though we never had a lot of luck) as the sun set. 
    Gena loved her family and they were everything to her. She will be  greatly missed by her husband Rick Carda; hers sons, Samuel and Eric Carda; her mother and father,  Jim and Marianne Defa; her brothers and sisters, Laura (Randy) Harrison, Julie Defa, Holly Baum, Jody (Amy) Defa, Karena (Gus) McPhie, Marco Defa; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
    We would like to thank all the people who were here for us during this time: Special thanks to the organization Klick for all their help; hospice care especially our nurse, Jenny, who was wonderful; everyone at the Duchesne County Sheriff's Office for all their support; and to all the friends and family that stepped up and were there for us in more ways than we can count.
    Per her wishes she will be cremated and her family will take her cremated remains to California to scatter them at her favorite spot off the beach as the sun sets.
