Garth LeRoy Sorensen, age 86, peacefully passed away on May 28, 2023 in his home in Roosevelt, Utah.
Garth was born on May 19, 1937 to Boyd James Sorensen and Myrtle Merideth Olsen in Scipio, Utah. He was the fourth of seven children.

Garth attended school at Snow College and Utah State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in Auto-Diesel Engineering in 1968. After graduation, Garth moved his family to Roosevelt, where he taught auto mechanics for 30 years and served as interim director for one year at what is now known as Uintah Basin Technical College. He retired in 1998. Garth also owned and operated the G & G Chevron service station. Being a lifetime farmer, he bought land and started his farming operation in 1977.
Garth served in many community positions throughout his life including the Roosevelt City Council, the IFA Board, and the Soil Conservation District.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and dedicated his life to service in the church. He served a full-time mission to Denmark (1958-1960), served as a counselor in the stake presidency of the Roosevelt Utah East Stake, and served as a temple worker in the Vernal, Utah temple.
Garth was a loving friend to all. He enjoyed spending time with his family, farming, telling jokes, teaching others about his love of the temple, and his love for the Savior.
He is survived by his wife, DeAnne, his daughters, Charlotte (David) Gillman, Vernal; Janice (Kelly) Bird, Bluebell; Merikay (Marshall) Bellon, Roosevelt; and his brother, Udell (Peggy) Sorensen, Scipio, Utah.  He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren with 2 more coming by August-- all of whom he absolutely adored.
