With hearts full of love and lasting gratitude for a life so beautifully lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother Emma Lou Bird Kopp. Emma passed peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Emma was born on January 19, 1946, to Charles and Arsula Bird in Roosevelt, Utah. From an early age, she possessed a kind heart and a generous spirit that would define her throughout her life. She touched countless lives with her warmth, compassion, and genuine care for others.
Emma had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and loved. Her circle of friends was large, and her social calendar was always full–a reflection of the joy she found in spending time with others and the joy others found in being with her. Whether sharing a meal, celebrating life’s milestones, or simply enjoying conversation, Emma made every moment meaningful.
Above all else, Emma’s greatest happiness came from her family. She treasured every moment spent with her five grandchildren, who brought endless pride, laughter, and love into her life. Being their grandmother was one of her greatest joys, and the memories they shared will remain a lasting gift to them all.
Emma was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many positions including being a Service Missionary at the home storage center at the time of her passing.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that the love she gave so freely will continue on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Emma is survived by her loving family, including her two daughters Kammy McLachlan and Kristee Bishop, her five grandchildren Hannah McLachlan, Hunter McLachlan, Harlee McLachlan, Bridger Bishop, and Charlee Bishop. As well as her siblings Daniel Bird (Roleen), Rosie Christiansen, Eunice Springer, Peggy Capwell, Reva Cook, and Burt Bird (Carolyn).
Emma was preceded in death by her parents, sister Sherri Dawn, brothers-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
