Eli Nez

    Eli Van Nez, age 43, of Yellowstone Subdivision, passed away September 22, 2018, at the Uintah Basin Medical Center.
    He was born February 28, 1975, in Roosevelt, to Larry Nez, Sr. and Venice Shavanaux.  
    Eli worked as a motor hand in the oil field.  He enjoyed playing the lottery, hunting, fishing, camping, listening to music, and making dreamcatchers.  He could play the guitar, was a snowboarder and skier, a good cook, and was an excellent frybread maker.  His favorite hobby was drinking, laughing, and having fun with his brother, Blake – they were always together.  He had a good sense of humor, helped anyone, and would talk to everyone.  He loved his family and loved being with them.  
    Eli is survived by his children, Tanis & Erias Nez; parents, Larry Nez, Venice Shavanaux; siblings, Blake, Larry Jr, Harlan, & Laura Nez; Dotsy Wyasket; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives.  
    He was preceded in death by his son, Elias; brother, Keith; grandparents, Vera & Coney Shavanaux; Ned & Levate Nez; nephews, Draven, Iran, Mason, & Tresson Nez; and Leroy Reed, Jr.
    Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the home of his sister, Laura Nez where there will also be a wake the night before.
    Cremation will follow the services.
