The funeral service will be live-streamed here.
Dustin Lance “Big D” Kimbel, age 34, of Vernal, passed away on November 18, 2022, after fighting a short battle with pneumonia and influenza.
He was born October 31, 1988, to Donald Lee Kimbel and Kimberly Wynn Kavanaugh Kimbel, in Federal Way, Washington. At the age of 4, the family moved back to the Uintah Basin, and settled in Roosevelt. It was then that Dustin started school at Conamore. He graduated from Conamore on January 3, 2011.
In 2017, Dustin gained an additional family when he moved to Vernal. This was a very unselfish and extremely difficult decision for his family. The family is forever grateful for the unconditional love and care extended in his behalf by his NES family.
Dustin, was famously known as, “Big D”. He was a genuine, pure, and very special soul. It did not matter if he knew you a little, or a lot, if you were sitting down for a visit, he would climb up on your lap. Before you knew it, you were getting the biggest, bestest hug in your life!!! “Big D” was a huge fan of his family and the endless love he soaked up from them. Happy smiles and deep belly giggles were just one of his specialties in letting you know just how much he truly appreciated your company. Dustin enjoyed listening to music, car rides, hand tickles, ear kisses, and back rubs. There was no question though how a nice warm bubble bath was at the top of his list of favorite things!!!!
“Big D” cherished his individual time with the members of his family. Each of them makes up a part of who "Big D" is.
Starting with his dad, it was all about LOVE. “Big D” would nuzzle up and keep moving in closer, and closer for those constant loving hugs and kisses. Pa sure does love his “Big D”, and “Big D” loved his Pa!
Konner had a different approach! With Konner it was all about being a TOUGH MAN. Wrestling around and roughing him up!! I think that is where all of the power and strength of those awesome bear hugs came from. Be sure to thank Konner if you ever experienced a painful hug! Pa + Konner = Tough Love or Love Hurts!!!
Kody was about FASHION and CLASS. “Big D” soaked up the “Guy” times with you! Those cherished trips to the barbershop, haircuts, a nice shave, cologne, and dressed in the latest fashion, he could have had his picture on the cover of a GQ Magazine.
Kirby, you were his constant that provided his PEACE and COMFORTS in life! There is nothing like the love of a big sister. How he loved keeping you to himself. Good food, the room makeovers, and all of the little details. It was you that made sure everything for him was as perfect as possible. You also brought the “Cowboy” out in him at the Dinosaur Round Up Rodeo!
Grammy Tammy was his nurse mate, spending hours with him in the hospital during his numerous and sometimes extended stays. Because of you he was a FIGHTER! Their special bond was strengthened with visits, car rides, hugs, kisses and lots of treats!
Momma. Dustin was definitely a MOMMA'S BOY, and life without her was not the same. She was his ANGEL HERE ON EARTH. Although she gained her angel wings way too soon, this amazing family made their momma proud. Their UNCONDITIONAL LOVE and care for “Big D” was UNWAVERING and CONSTANT.
Bubba, last but not least, “Big D’s” LOYAL SIDEKICK and PARTNER in crime, he was the best big brother, his hero, his everything. Their love is like no other. It is no secret, that their bond for each other was solid and deep, far beyond our comprehension. Due to their limitations, communication was sometimes very complicated, but they knew each other and they understood each other completely. It would make their hearts happy if we would strive daily to understand, love and forgive like they did!!
November 18, 2022, The Heavenly Reunion: A very holy and sacred day. A loving mother embracing her two “Perfect” sons and thanking them for choosing her to be their mom. Two loving sons embracing their mother and thanking her for being a “Perfect” mom. I cannot imagine the reunion, reunited without limitations. Each of them saying, “If I had to do it all over again, I’d do it in a heartbeat.” The eternal blessings and rewards they have received were worth every second, of every minute, of every day!
Dustin has blessed the life of each of us. His special soul and the way he loved were infectious. “Big D” your loving personality, big squeeze hugs, soft yet mischievous smile is already deeply missed. We love you.
