    S. Duane Perry, age 78, of Myton, died on March 4, 2025, in Naples, Utah.
Duane was born on December 1, 1946,  to Loyal Remington and Thora Ella Nielson Perry, the youngest of five children, in Salt Lake City, Utah. His early life consisted of living between Salt Lake City and Pleasant Valley, Utah where he helped with the family farm.
He graduated from Union High School and soon left for Germany where he patrolled the Berlin Wall. Soon after his return, Duane married his eternal companion, Lawella Abegglen, on August 27, 1971, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, they had five children, which then added three daughters-in-law, 12 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, who all loved spending time with and hearing stories from him.
Duane was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and Lawella served a service mission for their church during their retirement. He was faithful in his temple attendance throughout his life, held many callings, and loved to serve. Everyone that knew him benefitted from his service.
Duane’s career in the oil field was long and mainly in the Uintah Basin for Cheveron Pipeline. It took him and his family to Blackfoot, Idaho, for a short time. Later, he was the proud owner of Perry’s Stump Removal. The stumper was a hallmark piece of Roosevelt’s state street for many years.
Duane was a jack of all trades and master of several. He could fix anything around the house and if it wasn’t something he’d done before, he could figure it out. He was often seen fixing things for others that could not do it themselves. A legacy he left for his children and grandchildren. Outside of his mechanical and other handyman talents, he was also a leather worker. He created many beautiful pieces that were then featured in magazines and cherished by those who received them.
Duane enjoyed spending time with family, hard work, and riding dirt bikes. He taught his kids and many nieces and nephews to ride dirt bikes. He especially loved his Goldwings and put many miles on them. He also put quite a few miles on his tractor with his great grandchildren.
Above all else, Duane loved his family, especially his wife, Lawella. There was never a family barbecue, baptism, or wedding that wasn’t graced with his humour and kindness.
Duane is survived by his wife, Lawella, his children, Glade (Kristi), Greg, Jill, Dustin (Charlynn), and Cortney (Hollie), as well as all 12 of his grandchildren and both great grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents, Loyal and Thora, and his siblings, Jule, Reva, Leonald, and Merlyn.
He will be remembered as a faithful servant of the Lord, a hard worker, a service-minded individual, and fun-loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He loved his wife and family dearly and will be missed.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Myton Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
A viewing will be held that morning from 10:00 - 10:45 AM at the church.
Burial in the LaPoint Cemetery, with military honors presented by the Utah Army National Guard, the Vernal American Legion, and the Patriot Guard Riders.
