The Funeral Service will be live-streamed here.
Doyle Glenn Rasmussen, age 77, of Neola, Utah, passed his earthly test into the loving arms of his Savior and many beloved family members on July 17, 2025, at his home. He was born on December 14, 1947, the caboose of 12 beautiful and fun-loving children born to Rulon and Mamie Norton Rasmussen. He rounded out the happy family with his own unique brand of humor and mischievous personality. He cherished his relationships with his hard-working parents and siblings.
He was raised on the family farm in Lapoint, Utah, where he learned many important life lessons. He loved country living and remained a “farm boy” at heart throughout his life, with a special love for horses and wide open spaces.
He married his high school sweetheart, Diana Laris, on June 29, 1968, in Roosevelt, Utah. They were later sealed eternally in the Salt Lake Temple on February 21, 1974. They were blessed with 4 beautiful children, anxious to get here within a 6-year span. Together they built a life full of love, faith, work, and plenty of laughter.
Doyle graduated from Weber State College with a bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force, attending Officer Training School and becoming a pilot. He and his family were stationed in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he flew C-130’s. After his military service, he and his wife settled in Neola where they raised their children: Stacy (Todd) Ashby, South Jordan; Brett (Jenell) Rasmussen, Neola; Sara (Matt) Jorgensen, Louisville, Tennessee; and Tyler (Kim) Rasmussen, Neola.
He worked in the oilfield for many years to provide for his family while still being able to enjoy farm life, especially his horses. He loved working with wood, from harvesting timber in the nearby mountains to creating beautiful wood pieces. His mother often said he had sawdust in his veins, just like all her other boys.
He was humble by nature, but those who knew him well enjoyed his quick wit, goofy sense of humor, and steady presence. He was happiest surrounded by family, working on the farm or enjoying a campfire in the mountains with the people he loved nearby.
He was deeply devoted to his faith and was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints. He served in many callings including Scouting, Bishop, and counselor in the Stake Presidency. He served with his wife in the Vernal Temple as an Ordinance Worker and Sealer. He loved the temple and was honored to assist in performing sacred temple work. A highlight of his life was being called as a missionary with his wife to Juneau, Alaska.
Doyle loved his country and his community. For more than 20 years he worked alongside family and friends to cook and serve Neola’s eagerly-awaited Fourth of July BBQ chicken dinner, a tradition that brought the community together and gave him great joy.
One of the family’s most cherished memories was when Doyle and Diana took their entire family – including grandchildren – to Oahu, Hawaii, to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. It was a trip filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
He deeply loved the Savior and his family and leaves a legacy of love, hard work, and faith for generations to come. He is survived by his wife, Diana, their 4 children and spouses, 17 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters and 3 brothers.
A funeral service will be held Monday, July 21, 2025, at the Neola Chapel, with a viewing from 9:30 a.m.-10:45 a.m. The service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Neola Cemetery with military honors.
