Dortha Ruth Long

Dortha Ruth Beal Long, age 92, of Roosevelt, passed away July 30, 2018, in Vernal at her daughter’s home.
She was born September 27, 1925, in Neola, to Jesse Raynal and Araminna Wilkerson Beal.  She married Richard Ephraim Long on March 22, 1948, and they later divorced.  
Dortha had worked as a manager at a pawn shop in Kearns, and as a dietician for the hospital.  She was an excellent gardener, quilter, seamstress, and cook.  She loved family reunions, playing sports, jacks, cards, taking road trips with Laurence & Cal, being an ordinance worker in the Vernal LDS Temple, and watching the Utah Jazz.  She loved her family and she has a strong testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father.  She served as a Primary President for over fourteen years, had served a mission in the California Redlands Mission and recently was an avid genealogy indexer.  
She is enjoying a warm and welcome reunion with her family in heaven, including her Chihuahua, Penny!
Dortha is survived by her children, Cherry Wright, Lamar (Joy) Long, LaRena (Al) Schmale, Tammie (Dennie) Mecham, Mary (Rick) Stewart, 18 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; a sister, Freda Davies; a brother, Laurence Beal; son-in-law, Wally Graves, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gwendolyn Graves; parents, Jesse & Araminna Beal; and siblings, Darl Beal, Lola Hamilton, Thomas Beal, and Steven Beal.  
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the Roosevelt 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 250 West 200 North.  There will be a viewing on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary and on Tuesday from 10-10:45 am at the church.
The burial will be in the Neola Cemetery
