Don Carlos Herbert, known fondly to friends and family as “Donbo” or “Donkey,” tragically passed away on March 14, 2026 at the age of 39.
He was born in Utah County on September 29, 1986, to Barry Herbert, Sr., and Sandra Herbert.
Donbo possessed a vibrant, radiant, and intoxicating energy that left an unforgettable impact on each person he met. With a devious ear-to-ear smile, sharp wit, and a laugh that was absolutely contagious, he would brighten up any room, and his healing hugs could ease any sorrows. Above all, Don is defined by his selfless and all-loving nature. He ensured those around him knew they could depend on him for anything.
Don enjoyed endless adventures. His “partner in crime”, Mitchell Farnsworth, was consistently by his side. Their bond was unbreakable in life and will remain so now, as they were tragically lost together in this accident. We can find comfort knowing that as Don is moving to his next great journey, Mitch will continue to be right by his side.
While Don achieved much in his short time here with us, he was most proud the day he became a father. On February 23, 2007, he and Adrianne Smith were blessed with their son, Tayson. To Don, being a father was his highest honor, and he remained a devoted co-parent and dear friend to Adrianne throughout his life.
Donbo and Tayson shared a deep bond. They loved to go on adventures together to explore all of nature; looking for treasures or beautiful rocks and gemstones that fueled Dons passion of crafting wire-wrapped gemstone jewelry.
While their adventures were many, Tayson most dearly relishes the memories of when they would simply “lollygag” around, just enjoying the presence of one another.
Don is survived by his son Tayson, of Heber City; his sisters, Angie (Tony) Arvizo, Tooele; Amber (Logan) Jenkins, Roosevelt; his brother, Barry Herbert Jr., Oregon; uncle, Ed Doyle; his step-mother, Judy Herbert; step-brother Steve Hampshire; and grandmother, Marge Clark. He also leaves behind a vast circle of extended family and friends whom he loved as his own.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Heins; his father, Barry Herbert Sr.; step-father, Timothy Heins; grandparents, Les Herbert and Don Clark; along with many beloved cousins, aunts, and uncles who surely welcomed him with open arms for a joyous family reunion.
In a testament to their lifelong bond, services for Don will be held coinciding with those for his cousin and best friend, Mitchell Farnsworth.
Their joint funeral service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Event Center (1024 W Highway 40, Roosevelt, Utah). There will be a visitation that morning at the event center from 9:30-10:45 a.m.
He will be laid to rest near his mother in the Gusher Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be made to a GoFundMe account or a Venmo account for Tayson, as he will be navigating many financial burdens for a long period of time.
