     Derrick A. “Downey” Williams, age 34, of Myton, beloved son, brother, father, grandson, uncle and friend, succumbed to years of depression on December 4, 2020.
     Downey was born January 17, 1986, in Roosevelt to Debra Nyberg and was lovingly raised by his mother and step-father, Debbie & James Ponton, who he adored.  He loved his grandparents, Dick and Jean Kettle, immensely as they helped raise him.  His special name given by his grandma was “Fiffer”. He married Georgia Hanna on June 1, 2012, they later divorced but he never stopped loving her.  Together they delighted in having two children, Braxton & Ryker, which were the light of his life.
    Downey loved football, especially watching the Seattle Seahawks, and Trevyn, his nephew play the game..  He took great joy in teasing his niece Jaycee and enjoyed driving diesel trucks and his bullet bike.  He was a hard worker and liked the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
    He is survived by his children, Braxton and Ryker Williams; mother, Debbie Ponton; sister and brother, Amanda and Mike Braithwaite; his grandpa, Dick Kettle; nephew and niece, Trevyn and Jaycee Braithwaite; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and the love of his life, Georgia Hanna.  He is also survived by his lifelong friend, Jeremy Nielson and many others.
    He was preceded in death by his dad, James Ponton; grandma, Jean Kettle; great grandparents, Inez and Elmer Kettle, Edward and Ruth Ponton; uncle, James Kettle; and cousin, Courtney Kettle.
    The family would like to encourage everyone to be aware of depression and don’t be afraid to call and get some help. Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 24/7 at 800-273-8255.
    A dedication of grave will be held at the Avalon Cemetery on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 2:30.  A memorial services and luncheon will be held at the Avalon Community Center at 3:00.  Due to COVID-19, services will be limited to family and close friends.
