Delia Mae Duncan, age 66, of Whiterocks, passed away April 24, 2024, at her home.
She was born December 9, 1957, in Vernal, to Ivan Duncan and Clara A. Chegup. She married John Emery Angel, Sr., and they later divorced. She was companions with Kessley LaRose, Sr., and they later separated.
Delia worked for the Ute Tribe as a Headstart teacher and then as a clerk at the Property and Supply division. She was very loving and caring and had a great sense of humor. She was a champion traditional dancer at Pow Wows, she crafted beautiful bead work. She enjoyed going to the mountains, was a free spirit, and loved animals. She made many lifelong friends.
Delia is survived by her children, Johnny Quiyaga Angel Whiterocks; Gina LaRose, Ft. Duchesne; Lane LaRose (Pamela Cuch), Whiterocks; 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Madeleine Duncan, Neola; Luke Duncan, Whiterocks; Aldora Duncan, Ft. Duchesne; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Rudolph Nephi, Clifford Duncan, Elvina Duncan, Clinton Duncan, Lillian D. Reed, Delilah D. Reyos, Jeanette D. Phelps, Nettie D. Harris, Sally Duncan, Judy P. Ballard; son-in-law, Kermit Wopsock, and a dog, “Freckles,” and a cat, “Richard Parker.”
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church in Whiterocks.
Burial will be in the John Harmes Cemetery.
