David Riding, age 84 of Roosevelt, passed away peacefully at his home on July 22, 2024 with his loving wife of 61 years by his side. He was born May 7, 1940, in Springville, UT to Fred H and Martha L Riding. He was the 4th of 7 children.
He married Sherry Gale Scott on June 11,1963 in Salt Lake City, UT and just celebrated their 61st-wedding anniversary.
David was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force from May 23, 1960 - July 31, 1980, ending with the rank of Master Sergeant (MSgt) specializing as an Electronics Technician. His time in the Air Force took him to many locations around the globe. A yearlong deployment in Germany, another year in the Philippines, time spent in New York, Denver, and finally in California where he spent the last few years of his enlistment before packing up his family and returning to Roosevelt to watch his family grow. He spent many weekdays and weekends at the ballpark watching his sons play baseball and the many other sports that continued on through their High School years.
After his retirement from the Air Force, David started his second career at Moon Lake Electric, where he met some of the greatest friends a person could ever have. Many of these friendships that lasted until he passed.
David spent countless hours in his garden, growing fruits and vegetables, most of which he would give away to family, friends, and neighbors. He was always willing to lend a hand with whatever project needed done, lending his years of hard work and knowledge along the way.
David was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and a master of everything he put his mind to.
David is survived by his wife of 61 years; Sherry Riding; sons, David Riding, Jr.; Bobby (Shanna) Riding, all of Roosevelt; Frederick Riding, Saratoga Springs, UT; his siblings, Fred and Linda Riding; Ben J. and Sheryl Riding all of Washington; Kathy Hall, Roosevelt; and Doug and LuAnn Riding, Washington, UT.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Fred and Leona Riding; step-father, Frank Andrews; sisters, Joy Valene Riding, Gloria Hintze; brother-in-law, Bill Hall; father- and mother-in-law, Dale and Susie Scott; brothers-in-law, Don Scott, JR Scott, Bobby Scott, and Troy Scott; his grandparents and many nieces and nephews.
Per David's wishes there will be no services held at this time.
