“Dave”, to all that knew him, was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 9, 1960 to Ronald Irven Swenson and Nona Marie Groo Swenson.
Dave had a 22 year career with Utah State Patrol from July 8 1991 - July 1, 2012. Most of his UHP career in Vernal, Utah. Dave also enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Prior to his State Trooper career he worked several construction and oil and gas rig jobs to provide for his young family. During his Trooper career he was partners with his father on their ranch in Myton, Utah. After his father’s death, Dave continued ranching until 2021. He sold his ranch to move to Colorado and marry, quote “my soul mate”, Beverly. Dave and Beverly were married May 15, 2021 by Offication friend and Minister Mel Curtis, and they had just celebrated their 5th anniversary. They loved all the camping and mountain roads they traveled in Colorado and Utah.
Dave was extremely mechanically inclined and was happy with his retirement projects renovating 1965 Ford Pickups. He also enjoyed welding with his renovated 1962 Ford welding truck. Dave especially enjoyed his long trips on his Harley Davidison motorcycle with his Law Enforcement buddies. They traveled many miles and told many fun stories.
He was a very caring and compassionate man. Dave was proud of his sons and grandson, Zane. He is survived by his soul mate Beverly, his mother, Nona, sons, Darrell (Rachel, and their son Zane) and Marty (Alicia) in Indiana, his brother, Ron (Marianne, and their son Mark), and sister, Lisa Shephard (family) in Utah, also his loved nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with many extended family members.
Dave was predeceased by his beloved father, Ron, brother Eric, and his youngest son, David.
Arrangements are Callahan Edfast Funeral Home of Grand Junction, CO. Dave’s request are no services at this time. His wishes are privacy for his widow and family members. He left behind so many friends and acquaintances, he will be missed immensely. In lieu of flowers, Beverly requests that you consider a donation to your local American Heart Association on their online website.
