David Fay Kaighn, age 86, of Magna & Duchesne, died October 4, 2022 at his son’s home surrounded by some of his children and grandchildren.
He was born January 23, 1936, in Salt Lake City, to Alan E. And Geraldine Williams Kaighn. He was the last of his generation of his parents, two brothers, Kenneth E Kaighn and Robert Kaighn, and his sister, Barabra Kaighn Schmeling, who all preceded him in death.
David first married Ida Marie Parker and had his daughter. They later divorced. He then married Sharon Stidd, and had his three sons. They later divorced. He married Vonda Smith Mower on December 29, 1974, and she died March 15 2017.
David served in the US Navy from June 1953 to May 1958 and then worked miscellaneous jobs while attending school for his electricians certificate. He then worked at the Tooele Army Depot for many, many years until his retirement. He also worked part time as a locksmith.
He loved hunting, fishing and camping, and instilled that love in his children. He was a “jack-of-all-trades,” and could fix any thing that was broken.
David is survived by his daughter, Ada Kaighn Frandsen, and her children: Crystal, Kyle and Marishka, her six great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; son, David (Dianna), their children: Roger, Regina, Shauna, Kelly, Samantha, Felicia, & Marie with nine great-grandchildren; son, Patrick; son, Kenneth (Candice); their children: Jason, Ashley, Evan, and one great-grandchild; and step-daughter, Sandra (Sam) James, their children: Anna & Billy, and two great-grandchildren; step-sons, Glen Mower, and David Mower, and one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at 1:00 pm at the Magna 1st Ward Chapel, 3000 South 8750 West, Magna, Utah.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Manti City Cemetery in Manti Utah with Military Honors presented.
