Colleen Bowcutt, age 67, of Roosevelt, returned to her Heavenly Father on July 28, 2023.
Colleen was born on May 13, 1956, in Ogden, Utah, to Ralph and Dorothy Bowcutt.
Colleen lived in Reno, Nevada until she was seven and then moved to South Lake Tahoe, California. She graduated from South Tahoe High School in 1974 and attended Rick’s College and BYU, graduating in 1978 in Elementary Education.
Colleen taught hundreds of children throughout the years starting at Roosevelt Elementary School where she taught second and first grade. She taught first grade at East Elementary and third grade at Centennial Elementary. Colleen retired in 2018. She was an excellent, kind, and loving teacher. Children in her classes were fortunate to be there. She was much loved by her students and fellow teachers.
Colleen was always aware of others and had an amazing memory. She loved to read and to travel. She traveled widely throughout the country and the world. She enjoyed visiting new places, learning their history, and seeing significant sites.
Colleen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had numerous callings, including Primary, Young Women and Relief Society. She especially enjoyed her teaching callings.
Colleen is survived by her mother, Dorothy Kane and her very best friend and chosen sister, Tami Zirker.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Bowcutt, stepfather, Red Kane, and stepmother, Meredith Bowcutt.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 4, 2023, at the Roosevelt 2nd and 11th Ward, Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 200 North, 250 West in Roosevelt.
Viewing will be held on Friday from 10:00 - 10:45 AM at the church.
Burial will be in the Minersville Town Cemetery on Saturday, August 5, at 11:00.
