Christine Kozisek, age 71, passed away at her home in Roosevelt on June 11, 2024.
Christine was born September 27, 1952 in Asheville, North Carolina, to Ben William and Peggy Ann Diltz Staadts. She was raised by her mother and step-father, Arthur “K.O.” Fackerell.
She married Gary John Bird on July 20, 2018 in Roosevelt.
Christine was always on the go. She loved adventures and seeing new places. She liked to hike, bike, and take long walks. When she was done with a bike ride she was ready for a walk. She loved being outside and watching nature.
Christine was a nurse’s aide for private care in the homes of her clients and at the care center. She cared for many elderly people of the Roosevelt community, Christine loved people. If you went anywhere with her, you were going to leave with a new friend. She loved children and people with special needs the most. She volunteered in many church nurseries, including the LDS church, 1st Baptist Church of Roosevelt, and at the Roosevelt Assembly of God. She volunteered many hours in her younger years at the food bank and in her later years at the senior citizen building.
Christine loved animals. She cared for many horses and farm animals in her life. She liked yard work and took care of amazing gardens that she shared the produce with many friends and loved ones. She was an over the road truck driver, crude driver and, later in life, a bus driver for Duchesne County School District. She loved her bus kids and treated them like her own. She would make sure every child had a piece of candy for Halloween and a gift for Christmas.
Christine would have done anything for anyone. Her family was most important, and her grandkids were her most cherished possession. Damsel in distress was not something used to describe her. If something needed to be done, she was the one to do it…being a “Jane-of-all-trades!”
She is survived by her husband Gary; children, Artie (Troy) Huber; Stacey Thorlaksen (Brian Trahan), Chris Kozisek, Cameron Kozisek, all of Vernal; grandchildren, Anthony, Adrienne, Ashlynn, Jayler, Kenison, Kaysen, Colevin, Brieanna (Noah), Emory, Stacyn, Payton, Parker, Tripp, and her great-grandchildren, Lucas, Killian, Cadence, Adelyn, with one more on the way; siblings, Linda Tomlinson, Susan Becker, Dana Fackerell and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peggy & Arthur Fackerell, and a brother, Charlie Stamey.
