Christine Hobbs

Elverna Christine Hobbs, age 90, of Duchesne, passed away August 20, 2024, at her home. 

 She was born December 30, 1933, in Anthony, Kansas, to Lloyd and Edna Christiansen. She married Dale E. May, later divorced. She also married Fred Hobbs, and later divorced. 

 Christine had worked at the telephone company, was a bartender, and up until she was in her 70’s as a road construction flagger. She also proudly owned and operated the Little Ol’ Diner in Duchesne for several years. She enjoyed fishing, playing pool and shuffleboard, making various crafts, and working outside in her garden. She was often found working on various projects or tinkering with broken gadgets and electronics, even up until her last days. 

 She had a huge heart and would give anything to anyone who was in need. She was loving and well-loved, but she could be tough and stubborn when she needed to be, but it was always out of love. Her personality and comforting presence will be deeply missed. 

 Christine is survived by her children, Daryl (Connie) May, of Duchesne; Chrisanne Dahl, Linda May, both of Washington; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren (She was Grandma to everyone!); sisters, Madge Mayo, of Kansas; Donelda Cochran, of Louisiana; and many nieces and nephews. 

 She was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Elbe; father, Lloyd Christiansen; daughter, Betty Jean May; grandchildren, Michael Dahl, Steven Kerr, and Ethan May; brother, Morris Christiansen; and sister, Flossy Brotton. 

 Per her wishes, she was cremated and there will be a memorial service at a later date.
