Byron Hardy, age 90, of Roosevelt, Utah, passed away on June 1, 2023 at the Uintah Care Center.
He was born on January 31, 1933 in Vernal, Utah, to Paul and Erma Karren Hardy. As a young boy, he grew up on the family farm in Lapoint, Utah. His work ethic
was something he prided himself on, and he started working in the saw mill on Farm Creek Mountain for his uncle Elmo at a young age. The lessons learned at the saw mill served him well as he held numerous positions throughout his life. His jobs included working at Texaco, Highland Dairy and the job in which he took the most pride in which was a service technician at the Penzoil refinery.
Byron was an outstanding gardener, and was proud of having a green thumb. He enjoyed playing the guitar and writing music as well as attending the senior dances in Vernal every Friday night. In his later years, his favorite activity was going to the grocery store multiple times per day, or taking a trip to the city for a good meal at Chuck-A-Rama or KFC.
He married Gwen Galloway of Roosevelt, Utah, but later divorced. This event presented a challenge as Byron was left to raise his three daughters on his own. He was also a very devoted son who took care of his mother for over 25 years. His ability to care for the women in his life, was his greatest accomplishment.
He is survived by his children, Jill (Steve) Yack, Janet Hardy and Linda Spencer; grandchildren, Nichole, Aubrey, Jake and Candice; great-grandchildren, Pyper, Peyton, Jexten, Zaylee and Nyx.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Ken and Raema.
