Bert Norman Pilling, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Duchesne, on January 11, 2024 due to complications from prostate cancer.
Bert was born January 16, 1938 in Sandardville, Utah and raised in Price to Bert D and Myrtle Edno Rouch Pilling.  He served the US Navy in Japan from 1955-1957.  During a 4th of July Orem parade in 1957, he saw the most beautiful girl walking down the street. He immediately fell deeply in love with Bernice.  He married Bernice Lerain Rich on September 28, 1957
He was a very loving, kind and spiritual man. His loving spirit and generosity brightened the lives of all of his family and many friends.
He loved outdoor adventures, and was a passionate videographer. Above all, his spiritual life was his greatest treasure in life.
He was a devoted provider as a coal miner and later managing multiple city water districts. He was a protective and loving husband and father.
He is survived by his most beloved wife, Bernice Pilling, of 66 years, and their children: Davin Pilling, Melinda (Jim) Mitchell, Arbun Pilling, and Graig Pilling. Along with 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his children: Sherry Lee Pilling and Timothy Norman Pilling; brother, Larry Pilling, and parents Bert D. Pilling and Myrtle E. Roach.
Bert’s favorite verse: 1 Corinthians 13:4: Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, it is not puffed up.”  Psalm 23:4: “Yea, though I walk through the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou are with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.”  Matthew 11:28-30: “Come to me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Duchesne Stake Center.  A viewing will be held that morning from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m.  The funeral luncheon will follow and burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park at 3:00 p.m. with military honors presented.
