Belva Elaine Garner, age 93, of Roosevelt, passed away on April 29, 2026 at her home.
Belva was born on February 8,1933 to Emil Nef and Eva Lenora Johnson. She came into the world on a cold, snowy, winter day at home in Burton Idaho because they were snowed in and couldn’t get to the hospital.  Belva was number 7 of 8 children consisting of total of 4 boys and 4 girls.
When Belva turned 8, she lost her mother, so she was required to do much more
than most young girls her age.  She and her 13-year-old sister, Relda were required to do all the washing and cleaning.  She said that the chores were not always done very well. She also was required to do the cooking. She said that many times she would forget an ingredient such as salt or yeast when she made bread.  And many times, she would boil a steak instead of frying it.
She attended elementary school in Burton Idaho, and then Madison High School in Rexburg Idaho.
One weekend she went to a dance in Ririe and met a young/older man, Lloyd
Garner and the rest is history.
She received a ring for graduation, and they were married in the Idaho Falls
Temple on December 14, 1951.
If Belva had a hat to wear throughout her life, it would have SERVICE written
across it.  She served alongside Dad on the ranch doing whatever needed to be done.
She served by working at the school, in the cafeteria.  Belva later went to work for the Forest Service in Leadore and later transferred to Roosevelt where she retired.
Belva was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in the Primary, Young Women’s, and Relief Society Organizations.  She had a beautiful Alto voice and sang in Ward Choirs until late in her life.
Later, after moving to Roosevelt, Belva served with Dad at the cannery and as an ordinance worker at the Vernal Temple.  Belva also served many years at the Pink Shop in the Roosevelt Hospital.  In her service, she developed friendships that lasted long after her service ended.
The most important service was to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Belva was a kind, gentle, caring person and a great example for family to follow.
Belva is survived by her brother, Arnold (Leta) Nef, 3 children, Lee (Debbie) Garner, Jim (Anita) Garner, and SuzAnn (Barry) Miller, 10 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, parents, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.
