Andrew Palmer Baker, age 69, of Fruitland, Utah, passed away August 10, 2026, after having been ill for several months.
He was born September 17, 1956, in Hawthorne, California, to Calvin and Winifred Ross Baker. He married Debra “Deb” Poston on October 12, 1974, at the Beale Air Force Base in California.
Andy was a family man whose most treasured moments were spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. He began working at the tender age of nine, as a shoeshine boy, then assisted his parents during after school hours at Cal’s Pawnshop and Antiques store in Victorville, California.
He enlisted in the military at the age of 17, serving for eight years in the United States Air Force. When his time in the service was completed, he returned home to Victorville to help his widowed mother run the family business. When the store closed, Andy began many years of employment in the wastewater field in California. His last position in wastewater was as the Operations Manager at South Bayside System Authority in Redwood City, California. He and his wife retired in 2012, and moved to Fruitland, Utah. Bored with retirement after a few years, he opened APB Arms, a gun store in Duchesne. His favorite aspect of the gun business was being able to spend the day working side by side with his son, Jason. He enjoyed being part of a small-town community and helping to sponsor various events and charitable causes in Duchesne. In 2019, after some serious health issues, Andy closed the business.
Andrew is survived by Deb, his wife of almost 52 years, of Fruitland; daughter, Jessica (Ross) Miller, of Herriman; and son, Jason (Olivia) Baker, of Duchesne. He is also survived by five grandsons, Levi & Dalton Miller; Nathan, Brayden, & Roman Baker; his father-in-law, Charles Poston of Heber; a sister, Linda Baker McGuyer and sister-in-law, Susan Baker, both of Hesperia, California; brother-in-law, Daniel (Rebekah) Poston, niece, Sydney Poston; nephew, Kyle Poston of Phoenix, Az; niece, Lori Mente of Hesperia, California; and nephew, Dennis Paul Baker of Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin & Winifred Baker; brother, Calvin Dennis Baker; sister-in-law, Sandra Emery; and grandson, Carson Jay Baker.
A Celebration of Life, open to all, will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at the Cedar Country Bible Fellowship Church, 7035 S 44210 W, in Fruitland. Pastor Jarrod Murdock will officiate.
