Andrade K. Santio, Sr.

Andrade Kevin Santio, Sr., age 61, of Ft. Duchesne passed away on August 18, 2024, at the Rocky Mountain Care Center in Heber City, Utah, after a valiant battle with cancer.

 He was born December 17, 1962, in Roosevelt, Utah, to Kenneth Tahreep and Nataline Maxine Chapoose Santio. 

 In his younger years, Andrade was an avid athlete playing sports like Lttle League baseball, football, softball, and basketball. He began boxing at age 13 with the Basin Boxing Club, AD Pep Boxing and Stewart Indian School, where he later graduated from. He held both the state and national Golden Glove Titles for numerous years. 

 Andrade was a seasoned outdoorsman. He loved camping, fishing, hunting, and working outside in the yard. He enjoyed spending time on the porch listening to music and being with his animals, especially his Rottweilers. He participated in traditional ceremonies and loved his culture and teachings. He was a Sundancer and practiced Sweat and NAC. 

 Andrade worked with Weeminuche Construction, BIA Forestry, was a truck driver and did road construction as a heavy equipment operator. 

 He was with his companion, Ruby Dayzie, for many years and together they built a home. 

 Andrade is survived by his companion, Ruby Dayzie; children, Francisco Santio; Sergio Santio; Charles Lee (Cassandra) Santio; Tylen & Tyler Lansing; several grandchildren; siblings, Connora Chapoose, Marquist Santio, Lionel Tahreep; Lucus (Sharlisa) Santio; Melanie Santio, Reno Tahreep all of Ft. Duchesne; Natasha Santio (Eric Welsh), Parker, AZ; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

 He was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Guzman-Santio; a son, Andrade “AJ” Santio, Jr.; sister, Augustina Santio; brother, Kirk Santio; and his parents.

 Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ft. Duchesne Community Building. There will be a wake on Wednesday after 4:00 p.m. at his home on Hilltop, (1066 S 5110 E, Ft. Duchesne).

 Burial will be in the Ouray -Tabbee Cemetery.
