Alex J Gallegos

    Alex Joe Gallegos, age 73, passed away August 2, 2023, from a sudden heart attack at his home in Fruitland, Utah.
    He was born October 16, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Joe O and Rachael Lopez Gallegos.
    Alex was retired from a position at Interstate Brick where he was a yard supervisor for many years.  He and Kathy had also owned and operated A&K Pallet Company. 
    He was a very hardworking man, well-respected, and loved by so many.  He and Kathy built their dream home at their property in Fruitland where Alex will be laid to rest.  He enjoyed anything to do with camping, hunting, fishing, and being in the mountains.  He was a true mountain man.  Alex was an incredible mechanic and could fix just about anything.  He was a giver and didn’t ever expect anything in return.  He loved and cared for his family so much, they were his life.
    Alex was the oldest of thirteen; Lola (Joe) Martinez; Christine Heisey, Darlene Gallegos, Nick Gallegos, Lupita (Daniel) Martinez, Manuel Gallegos, Jorlene Salisbury, Joey (Leesa) Gallegos, Tilly (Bob) Magana, George (Teresa) Gallegos with numerous nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.
    He married Priscilla Chavez and divorced after raising a family of seven; Terry Gallegos, Reggie (Gwen) Gallegos, Marty Gallegos, Alisha (Dan) Kierstead, Jacoy Kiter, Andrew Gallegos, all of Salt Lake City; 
    Alex married the love of his life, Kathy Kuhn; children, Zach Gallegos, Mandy Gallegos (Jose Flores), both of Fruitland; and stepson, Brock (Chantel) Metcalf of Salt Lake City.
    He had 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren with one on the way, and one great-great-grandchild.    
    Alex was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Alex J Gallegos, Jr.; grandson, Jake Gallegos, two brothers, Richard & Trino Gallegos, and brother-in-law, Sam Salisbury.    
    Private Graveside services will be held at his home in Fruitland, Utah.
