Alberta Jenks, age, 77, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Alberta was born on March 9, 1944 to Lawrence and Sarah Jenks, in Fort Duchesne, Utah.
She grew up in her early years in Hillcreek and Ouray, Utah with her parents and siblings, they later relocated to Independence, Utah. Alberta attended Whiterock’s Boarding School with her sister Margaret Rose and graduated from Union High School, Roosevelt, Utah.
Alberta married Leo Tapoof, they later divorced but remained friends throughout her life.
Alberta was a born-again believer in the Lord, she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was always curious and enjoyed learning new things and trying new foods, she enjoyed traveling all over the country, and meeting new people. She could start up a conversation wherever she went with people and made friends wherever she went. Alberta had a big heart and would reach out to those she felt needed uplifting and could bring laughter and joy to those who needed it.
She loved Harley Davidson Motorcycles and often traveled to the Annual Sturgis Bike Rally, in Sturgis, South Dakota with her Harley friends and family. She enjoyed attending UFC and MMA Boxing events in Las Vegas, NV and shared that love with her friends and family.
She had a great love for all of her family. She enjoyed the holidays especially Christmas and Easter, and all gatherings with her family. She loved to decorate and cook for the holidays and was always up for family dinners, whether it was cooking at home or going out to eat together as a family. She loved her children very much and especially loved her grandchildren, she enjoyed spending time with them and shopping and spoiling them. She was the last remaining member of her siblings and she had a loving and close relationship with her children, her nieces and nephews and extended family. She would always call to check up on them and will be remembered for providing guidance, encouragement, and being loving and caring. She loved to tease and joke around and was always laughing, seeing the comical side of any situation.
Alberta was a fluent Ute speaker and loved to visit with those who spoke Ute. She grew up learning her Ute Culture and knew family histories from way back. She could always tell you who was related to who and would share with her family the Ute history in stories that made you understand why we did things a certain way as Ute People.
Alberta is survived by her children: Daughter Corrina Lee Tapoof (James Beavers), sons Lemuel (Amber) Tapoof, Leander Tapoof, and Gunther (Edna McCabe) Tapoof. Her grandchildren: Gaviant Lawrence Beavers, Cierra Lee Beavers, Acoma James Beavers, Imani (Chris) Moore, Jada Kroon Moore, Isaiah Tapoof, Rylee Tapoof, Audilynn Tapoof, and Joshua Tapoof. Great Grandchildren: Darrell Castillo, Marie Castillo, Antonio Barnell, Tillie Barnell, Sariah Topousana Tapoof, and her cat Twinky.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Lawrence and Sarah Santio Jenks., her siblings: Albert Pokerjack, Sam, Christian, Bessie, Pauline, Levi, Robert, Stanley, Virginia Jenks and Margaret Rose Jenks Murdock, and nephew Troy E. Jenks.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the Hullinger’s Mortuary, Roosevelt, Utah. Viewing at the Hullinger’s Mortuary on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 from 12:00 - 7:00 p.m and Wednesday from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m.. There will be No Wake.
Burial will be at the Fort Duchesne Cemetery, Fort Duchesne, Utah.
