Helen Verdene Heaton Betts, age 64, of Ballard, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 25, 2016.
Verdene was born July 12, 1952 in Salt Lake City to Verden Christopher and Alice May Andersen Heaton.
Verdene graduated from Kearns High and went on to earn her LPN license at Salt Lake Trade Tech and worked at Cottonwood Hospital before moving to Ballard, where she met her sweetheart, Allen Reed Betts. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They raised 6 beautiful children.
Verdene dedicated her life to serving others both in her community as a LPN at the UBMC and Stewarts Care and Rehabilitation Center. She served in many callings in the church including, Relief Society President, Young Womens, Primary, Special Primary, scouts, music, and temple service in the Vernal Utah Temple. She loved Girls Camp and served as both camp director and camp nurse for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Allen Reed Betts, Ballard; children, Stephanie Anderson, Ballard; Matthew (Kylee) Betts, Vernal; Charlotte (Ezekiel) Doesburg, Roosevelt; Cameron (Debby) Betts, Vernal; Whitney (Ryan) Pierce, Roosevelt; Courtney (Cade) Bowthorpe, Roosevelt; 18 beautiful grand children, her dad, Verden Christopher Heaton, siblings, Ina (Paul) Nielson, Jesse (Terry) Clark, Jerri (Dallas) Harrison, Chris (Connie) Heaton, David (Debbie) Clark Virginia Roybal, and Tina (Brian) Daniels,.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Alice, and brother-in-law, Billy Davis.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m at the Roosevelt East Stake Center. Viewings will be held on Sunday evening at the Hullinger Mortuary from 5-7 p.m. and Monday at the church 1 hour prior to the service.
Burial in the Tridell Cemetery.
