Thomas "Turkey Tom" Redfoot, age 74, of Arcadia, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2017 in Myton surrounded by his family.
Thomas was born December 27, 1942 in Ft. Duchesne to Roger Redfoot and Helen Price UncaSam Redfoot. He married Madelan Pikyavit , they later divorced.
Thomas was baptized in the Catholic Church but he was also a traditional man who was a great supporter of the Native American Church and the Sun Dance.
Thomas had many different talents and occupations during his lifetime. He was a farmer, sheepherder and seasonal firefighter. He was raised in Arcadia and later attended Whiterocks Boarding School then trade schools in California and Chicago.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, bingo and gambling. His biggest win was $10,000. He loved playing solitary while listening to music, especially Dolly Parton. He enjoyed all kinds of music. He was a great story teller and had a really good sense of humor. Some of his best stories were fishing stories. He always came back with fish even when no one would catch any. No one ever stayed sad around him.
He is survived by his son, Aaron (Sabrina) Redfoot, St. George; daughters, Stephanie Redfoot Babbit, Kanosh; Sherma Redfoot, Mesquite; his siblings, Roger J Redfoot, Myton; Noretah Martinez, Wendover; Anna Redfoot Lee, Roosevelt; LaDeana (Darryl) Numan, Myton; Kathleen (Pat) Martinez, SLC; Linda (Roy) Ankerpont, Randlett; Connie Smith, SLC; 13 beloved grandchildren and 17 cherished great grandchildren. He had many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Thomas will make his journey to our Heavenly Father where he will be greeted by his parents, grandparents, Gregory Wanzitz & Claudia Redfoot, Togarvias UncaSam & Noretah Price, siblings, Norman Redfoot, Nelson Redfoot, Jack Redfoot, Marvin Redfoot, LeGrande Redfoot, Carma Redfoot and Lateen Redfoot.
A sunrise graveside service will be held at 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Myton Cemetery. A traditional wake will be held after 4:00 p.m. on Friday at the Myton Community Building.
