Ruth (Bowden) GoodrichNovember 23, 1922 ~ May 25, 2017 (age 94)
Ruth Bowden Goodrich, 94, passed away surrounded by family in Nampa, Idaho on May 25, 2017.
She was born November 23, 1922 to Clarence Edward and Rebecca Abel Paxman Bowden in American Fork. She lived 70 years in Tridell. Ruth met her sweetheart Rae H Goodrich in a bakery in Salt Lake City where she worked. Rae worked at an auto repair shop that was near the bakery. They were married on June 4, 1941, later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, and were married for over 70 years. He died February 17, 2011. They were blessed with one daughter and six sons. Ruth was a very loving, caring, and fun individual. She left a legacy of love for her family and everyone she met. Ruth served as Ward YW and Primary President and as a Stake Primary President. Ruth and Rae served an LDS Mission in the South Dakota Rapid City Mission and later enjoyed serving in the St. George temple together. Ruth was a friend to all, but especially loved children. She loved and supported missionary work and supported humanitarian efforts and was able to see 36 of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren serve missions.
Ruth’s life was filled with service to others. She could prepare a feast in a moment’s notice seemingly from nothing. She made the best homemade bread in the country and grew a large garden every year. She was always busy cooking, cleaning, gardening, canning, and serving others. She could often be found reading, playing, and interacting with her grandchildren. Ruth never said a disparaging remark about anyone.
She is survived by her daughter, Toni Stringam (Gary); sons Jim (Beth); Jerry (Lois); daughter-in-law Barbara; sons Gene (April); Kerry (Leslie) and Russell (Karen) Goodrich as well as 39 grandchildren, 129 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, husband Rae, son Randy, grandson Daniel, great grandson Hunter, and great granddaughter Ella.
Funeral services will be held in her honor May 30, 2017 at 11:00 am in Tridell, Utah at the Tridell Ward Chapel. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 am. Interment will be in the Tridell Cemetery.
We express our appreciation to Stan Stringam who was not only a grandson but her doctor who went above and beyond in taking care of Moms health care needs in recent years.
