Duffy Lee Meridyth Simmons, age 38, formerly of Vernal Utah, passed away May 13, 2017, in Bakersfield, California.
He was born June 7, 1978 in Vernal, Utah, to Charles Lee Ankerpont and Karissa K. Simmons. He married Monique Sierra Cruz on June 11, 2012.
Duffy was very artistic and enjoyed drawing pictures for people he also had a collection of short stories he wrote that had great depth and awesome humor. He liked philosophy and the spiritual practices of different faiths. He had a great sense of humor with a contagious crazy laugh he teased hard and enjoyed doing so. He enjoyed fishing, loved music- jazz, NOFX, Sublime to name a few. Was a good cook, liked traveling and seeing new things. – he could strike up a conversation with anyone. He made new friends wherever he went. He obtained a Blue Belt in Taekwondo under Master Swan/Force of one, in Clovis NM and participated in MMA cage fighting.
He worked in a metal shop and on Cannon Air Force Base driving heavy equipment and trucks. He was close to his grandmother Ednal who he stayed in contact with and loved dearly, as well as his late grandpa, Don Simmons, who helped raise him on their farm in Whiterocks.
Duffy is survived by his wife, Monique, of Clovis, NM; children, Earl James Winterhawk Simmons, Ogden; Meridyth Marie Simmons, Vernal; Latreon Stone Simmons, Vernal; Duffy Cruz Sierra Simmons, Jr., Clovis, NM; a grandson, Aralico Michael Montoya; Clovis NM; mother, Karissa Simmons, Vernal; grandmother, Ednal Simmons, Whiterocks; brothers and sisters Delilah (Raymond) Limon, Pensacola, FL; Teegan Simmons, Vernal; Samantha Ankerpont, Ft. Duchesne, ; Krissie Accutaroop, Ogden, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives in Utah, Wyoming, Montana and New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Lee Ankerpont, Grandmother Elenore Cotonuts, Grandfather Francis Ankerpont Sr and his grandfather, Donald Simmons.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 10;00 a.m. at the Whiterocks LDS Chapel. There will be a visitation at the mortuary on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. at which time we will go to Tissy Cuch's home in Ft. Duchesne for a Wake.
Burial will be in the Tridell Cemetery.
